I am so impressed by this. If you are a young student, which I suspect that you are, then you have a remarkable grasp of design. The portrait, itself, more than suggests a Barnabas who is both darkly alluring and approachable. Your use of broken line adds to the sketch-like quality that gives the portrait its immediacy. Through your eyes we see a Barnabas fast discovering this "wonderful new age" with a smidgen of trepidation. The juxtaposition of his classic image with that of the coldly temporal nature of modern newsprint, fading in and out, makes for a most satisfying vision of life, however undead in Barnabas, and true "death" as exemplified by the drabness of the modern world he has awakened to.
This is such a wonderful thing to wake up to. Thank you so much for the compliments. I've never considered myself a designer. It's amazing to hear from someone who seems really well informed not only on symbolism in art, but in the character himself. I'm really really greatful!
